Research focus of the SPE is the field of fluidized bed technology and its industrial applications. We investigate physical processes like drying and particle production by granulation and agglomeration as well as chemical processes and applications in energy technology. Experimental investigations with novel measurement methods are supported by hierarchically structured theoretical approaches. The model development includes particle based methods (DEM, population balances), continuous models (FEM, CFD) as well as steady-state and dynamic flow sheet simulations of complex solids processes whereas simulations consider individual particles, bulk solids and particles containing flows of multiples phases.
